DescriptionDescribing in detail a lengthy meeting with her son, Lord Frederick. He is not hopeful of 'good effect from the late, painful disclosure' and asks the Duchess to be patient. Difficulties of finding a tutor for him. Frederick has suggested the army but he and Colenso agree that it is better for him to spend a year with a retired army officer before getting a commission. Frederick is not yet 19 and might regard an immediate commission as "the reward of his late delinquency."
