TitleCopy letter to Lady Olivia Bernard Sparrow, from her grandson, Lord Frederick Montagu, Sydney [Australia]
DescriptionCopied in her own handwriting. He is short of money because his allowance of £121 from his father is insufficient and doesn't arrive regularly. He has had help from Thorsby and Mrs Johnson, who provided board and lodgings, otherwise he would have died of starvation or gone to jail. His broken arm cost a large sum and has not healed properly. He is staying with Captain Christmas and intends going to the diggings in hope of making some money. No servants, he and Christmas's son do everything. He has asked Reverend Morris to speak to Lady Olivia and Lord Mandeville. He does not expect mush from father because of his marriage to Miss Dobbs. Life in the bush is so wild that he thinks he will never again cope with the conventions of society. Asks for a copy of The Times.
