Title | Letter from Millicent Duchess of Manchester, Torquay [Devon] to her mother, Lady Olivia Sparrow |
Description | A copy, not in Millicent's hand, in an envelope marked: "Copy. The Duchess' last letter to Lady Olivia". With thanks for the money so she can go to Ireland to be with her husband in these trying times. She has had two letters from there today "written in despair" and is concerned that his brooding over the unkindness of 'unworthy people' will undo all the good they have been endeavouring to do there. Discusses her son Lord Frederick's debts. Mr Colenso will not keep him and she feels the army may be better for him than college. She has higher hopes for Lord Robert. |
