TitleLetter from J. S. O'Brien, agent at Tandragee, to the Duke of Manchester
DescriptionHe is much surprised at Reilly having mislead the Duke about the quality of the land and the work he has carried out. He encloses the letter from Mr. McCormick [M10/23/7], who couldn't find the 'labourer's cottage' supposedly built by Reilly. The tenant farmers all acknowledge that they have acted fairly in increasing the rent but the three gentlemen are all indignant and say that he is not competent to value the land. He believes the business with Alexander may be settled satisfactorily. He called at Allen's who sent the berthe off before the Duchess's letter arrived. He is disappointed it was not approved of as Her Grace wearing it would have assured him the sale of a great many more.
