DescriptionHe joined the Order of St John, of which the Duke is Grand Prior, because of the very excellent scheme proposed by Major Porter and the Duke, so he is disappointed to hear that the proposal was rejected. He suspects it was rejected because the distribution of relief to the poor in London was considered beneath the dignity of the Order, a view very little in the spirit of the truly charitable Knights of St John.
