DescriptionHe thanks the Duke for his efforts to correct the error but doubts they will produce any effect. He attributes the failure of the monument principally to W. H. Dixon [likely William Hepworth Dixon] who is certainly an unpopular man and has given offence to a great many literary men. He cannot understand the appointment of such a man as secretary to the committee.
