TitleLetter from William Burness, Woolwich, to the Duke of Manchester
DescriptionBurness suffering the "painful hardship of want" as a consequence of the persecution against him by Mr.Porter and the late Duchess of Manchester. Might have had Porters position if he has been subserviant to her Grace (the Duchess), but she never looked at Burness favourably after his stated he could do nothing without informing the Duke. The Duchess favoured Porter.

Duke has stated the books are settlement, but Burness believes he has overlooked the ongoing alleged forgery where Burness allegedly paid away £100 and susbequently dismissed for spending too much money. Accusses Porter of forging his accounts.

Requests the Duke assist him financially until he is paid for an article he has written on draining by the Quarterly Journal of Agriculture.
