TitleLetter from Mr Loftie, Tandragee, to Viscountess Mandeville
DescriptionLetter regarding occupancy of a house by Mr. Dodds. Loftie has been confided to bed for a few days and has not seen Mr. Dobbs. Wrote to him enclosing £25, which was returned. Encloses the note to the Viscountess (not included).

Mr Dodds had moved his family from England to Ireland on the guise of Mandeville letting a proprerty to him for 5 years, however he had arrived to find his Lordship had changed his mind. Dodds was forced to occupy another house and use Lord Gosfords furniture, until he could find somewhere else to go. Dodds asked to pay a rent of £50 a year for the unfirunished house with no rent, bu Loftie replied that as he had only occupy it for a few winter months, he didn't think payment was necessary. However, Dodds paid £25 to Coutts bank anyway and refuses to be reimbursed. States this attempt exhonorates him "from any further attempt on my part to settle their foolish affair".

House is now empty and unfurnished, but Loftie can send over a few chairs and tables of his own. Easier to furnish house with goods from Belfast, cheaper than bulky freight.
Talks about the weather and local news: Good Spring weather,, Mandeville's plantations thriving and the breaking in a mare for his Lordship, Mr.Cury(?) is building a large edition to his mill, Mr.Trother has also built an addition to his house.
Will send £1000 to Coutts bank, ask if he wants more, but very few rents coming in.
