DescriptionWith apologies for interfering in this matter, but hoping the Duke will understand his reasons for addressing him in this way. Three weeks ago he urged a friend to use his influence with Lady Olivia to refer everything to arbitration and avoid the scandal. He has now had a series of letters from another party, whom he will not name, asking him to intercede with the Duke in the hope that he may concede some of the points to avoid a second public trial. Mr Napier may be willing to mediate.
