DescriptionHe/she is grateful that the Lord has brought the Duke through a painful ordeal [perhaps the court case in April 1854?], the reports of it in the Times made them quite unwell. They were deeply grieved at "one or two expressions your grace was betrayed into, no doubt under much provaction, to an old lady..." [final page missing].
