DescriptionWith regret at their departure from Pau and wishing he could have seen them more. They must have been surprised to see him on the day before their departure, but he didn't receive the letter until he returned. Madame de Gaja's visit at the same time was most unfortunate as they could not spend their last minutes together alone. He encloses a small poem from Bearn, who asks it be disposed of in the fire when it has been read. She has heard that the Shrewsbury's lost their nephew at Naples but there may be some difficulty in proving his legitimacy.
