DescriptionThe following two plans predate Prison Commissioners' 'takeover' of 1877: 'I', A block plan with drains. Not labelled, but numbering suggests c.1860s; 'II', 'Proposed alterations Plan B' by W.M. Fawcett, Feb 1866 (Watermark: Whatman 1865). Not adopted. Would have involved demolition of one of original radiating blocks and building new 3-storey block (similar to Smith's block at Hunts. County Gaol). See below R55/26/20(b)'1148/2A' for Plan A
