TitleSt Georges School Chapel
DescriptionThe interior of St Georges School Chapel. St George's Boys' School was "adjacent to" Brampton, and stood approximately opposite where the modern entrance to R.A.F. Brampton is today. The school has been demolished, and modern houses built on the site. The 1877 trade directory reveals that it was founded by DH Hodgkinson, MD, "for the purpose of forming a good Church of England Middle Class School". In 1877 the headmaster was the Reverend William Linton Wilson, MA, the second master was Edward James Paul and the organist and teacher of music was George Ernest Lake. The school is still listed in the 1885 trade directory, but is not listed in the 1869 directory, nor in the one for 1890. Huntingdon Cricket Club played teams from the school many times from the 1880s, and photographs of the teams can be found in WH1 and WH 2
