TitleThe bedroom of Geeson's house
DescriptionThe 1906 trade directory records that the Misses [Florence Jane and Olive Mary] Geeson lived at 99 High Street, Huntingdon, which is now part of Lloyds Bank. The Maddison and Hinde order book records that photographs of the interior of Geeson's House were taken in 1907, and here we have an image of one of the bedrooms of the house.
The house belonged to John Geeson and his wife nee Sarah Hammond. He was the chief clerk for a solicitor, Mr G D Day of St Ives. John Geeson was born on 27 November 1840 at St Ives and died on 17 February 1903 at Huntingdon. His wife, Sarah Hammond, was born on 28 June 1848 at Houghton and died on 1 January 1905 at Huntingdon. After her death, the property passed to their two daughters, Florence Jane Geeson born about December 1875and Olive Mary Geeson born on 13 January 1882. Olive Mary Geeson married Robert Firth Guyton (1875-1943), on 26 December 1907 at Trinity Baptist Church, Huntingdon. The property was sold about this time which is consistent with the estimated date of the photographs and is probably the reason why the photographs were taken.
