TitleFerrar House, High Street, Huntingdon
DescriptionThe rear of Ferrar House in the High Street, Huntingdon, taken in 1910. These magnificent gardens have now been covered over by flats โ€“ when you walk through the archway from the High Street, you are almost immediately confronted by a brick wall.
At this date the house was the home of the Fowler family. Thomas Frederick Fowler, solicitor, is listed in the 1910 trade directory, and is also on the 1911 census, aged 70. His wife Annie was aged 57 on this census, and the family had three servants.
A lady (Mrs Fowler?) holding a cat (or a dog?) is in the middle of the lawn, a groom with a horse are in the garden and two other gentlemen are standing in the garden (is the one on the extreme right a gardener?). A servant is standing by the back door observing the scene.
