1 - Lady Linlithgow, Hopetoun House, with thanks to Varrier-Jones for sending his congratulations, noting that it will be a wrench to leave home, but that the honour done to 'Hopie' [her husband Victor Alexander John Hope, second Marquess of Linlithgow's appointment as Viceroy of India 1936] is appreciated.
2 - Helen Morant, Little Munstead, Godalming, Surrey, to Mr Fraser with thanks for letter, informing that all her furniture and papers have been destroyed by 'Hitler's young men', hence the temporary address. In sympathy at the news of Varrier-Jones' death and wishing to read Mr Fraser's biography [of Varrier-Jones] when it is written.

7 - Ethel M. Hill, Kent House Nursing Home, Kent House road, New Beckenham, [Kent], enclosing donation. Also discussing the health of Ann and also asking that if they would keep Carrier on another month at the colony.

Also apologising for her absence at a committee meeting, due to ill-health. With letter from George [Duke of Kent], York House, St. James's Palace, London to Lady
16 - Copy of letter from Herbert Owen Williams, Bedford Road, Luton, Beds., to Harold Phillips Esq. with thanks for sending a copy of Varrier-Jones letter about starting a sanatorium at Cambridge [i.e. referring to that at Bourn]. Noting that it might be appropriate to start a similar enterprise in Bedfordshire, although not until the war is over. Cf. 1383/6/4/36.
17-19 - Dr Emmanuel Herzberg, 32 Weymouth Street, London to Dr [Ross?] detailing prescription for 'metatone', pleased that Varrier-Jones is feeling better. With note of his professional qualifications and copy letter to Dr Herzberg, inviting him to visit Papworth for lunch, and that his health is much improved.
