DescriptionLog books were kept by the Head Teacher. Each book contains an index at the front, followed by dated entries, typically recording staff leaving or newly employed, absences of staff, low attendance due to illness or otherwise, holidays, visitors, inspections, or other significant events. At first records were kept daily, entries made recording that the school was normal if nothing else happened, then weekly from 17 Mar 1871, and from 1893 onwards entries were only made when significant events happened.
