DescriptionPrint of a pencil sketch of Huntingdon Grammar School (pre the 1878 restoration) by Holmes Edwin Cornelius Winter (1851-1935). The original pencil sketch was bought on e-bay by the depositor, who gave this scanned copy to the archives. The original is inscribed on the back "The Old Grammar School Huntingdon" and indexed "No.36.7(?).13.1 1.17". The shadows and roofs lightly tinted. The artist, from the time of his youth until his marriage in 1879 lived in Norwich with an artist friend (Frederick Kitton). They would go on walking tours sketching various parts of the country. After his marriage he moved to Hertfordshire but returned regularly to East Anglia and elsewhere to sketch. (Information supplied by depositor)
