DescriptionThere are no entries between 27 November 1951 and 2 October 1961. There is a note in pencil that J. Moorhouse who officiated at some burials in 1855 was Bishop of Manchester in 1887. Entries 884 and 885 record the burials of a man and a boy who were drowned within an hour of each other and in nearly the same place in August, 1904. Entry 1286 records the burial in July of a boy drowned in the Ouse in May, 1932. At the front of the register is a copy of an Extract from Order in Council of 24 June 1856, as to discontinuing burials in the church and churchyard from 1 February 1857. There is also a note that the time for closing the churchyard was extended to 1 September 1857 by the Secretary of State.
