TitleSettlement examination of Elizabeth, wife of Thomas Harriss of Sutton born in St John, Norwich
DescriptionServant, aged about 30 years. Married 26 May 1801 Thomas Harris, a private 13th Light Dragoons at St Andrews, Norwich. 2 children, Samuel 5years, Elizabeth Ann, 3 years. Statement of Thomas Wright, labourer of Stretham that he knows Thomas Harris, late of Sutton, servant. That together they enlisted with the Cambridgeshire Pencibles in 1796 and went to Ireland May 1797 he witnessed the marriage of Thomas Harriss to Eliazabeth Gause, spinster (RC) in Hornce, Torone, Ireland. They came to England 1800, met Elizabeth's mother in Liverpool where she lived. He saw her in Stretham about 2 years ago. The examinent is not the person whose marriage he witnessed. Discharged may 1801 after 10 months enlisted as substitute in Suffolk Militia until June 1807. Husband deserted then she has no settlement but heard hisband state that Sutton was his place of settlement. He lived 1 year with Mr John Maylin.
