DescriptionThe Cambridge Gay Centre, originally the Cambridge Gay Centre Action Group, was established in 1978 to fundraise and generate public interest in a gay hub for the city. This would ideally serve as a base for Cambridge Gay Group, Cambridge CHE and Cambridgeshire Friend plus other organisations. It would also serve as a social venue and safe space for the LGBT community in Cambridge. A number of groups helped to raise funds for the project. The Cambridge Gay Centre was never realised and the funds for property were distributed to other LGBT groups and campaigns.
