TitleLetter from Air Commodore E.M.Maitland at R.A.F. Airship Base, Howden, Yorkshire declining an invitation to shoot at West Wratting and mentioning experiments being carried out at R.A.F. Airship Base, Howden, Yorkshire.
DescriptionMaitland was involved in the design and construction of airships. The letter probably dates from 1920; Maitland died in August 1921 in the crash of the airship R38 at Hull. Maitland writes that "we are carrying out a series of important experiments whenever we get a nice fine day and these experiments are likely to continue for some time which makes it practically impossible for me to make any plans whatever in advance."
