TitleVigilance Sub-Committee Minutes 12 December 1912 - 9 March 1943
DescriptionThis committee took several initiatives to assist women taken into police custody by arranging for one of their members to be present in court when a woman was on trial and organising a rota of police visitors. They made strong representation to the Royal Commission on Venereal Diseases arguing for equality of the sexes. Locally they protested against 'undesirable' cinema posters, the bad behaviour of girls near Army camps and urged the need to provide Sunday recreational facilities on new housing estates. They constantly pressed for more policewomen and the need for a female Probation Officer. Listed in the back of the book are the names of the Police Court visitors.
