TitleCambridge Women's Housing Association
DescriptionThe Housing Association was founded and administered by a committee of local Branch members to provide accommodation - other than lodgings - at reasonable rent for business and professional women. Three substantial properties were bought or leased; 65 Lensfield Road, 19 Bateman Street, and, in 1929, 2 Fitzwilliam Terrace, which were then converted into self-contained flats. Other properties were rented or purchased on a less permanent basis. The money for the project was raised by the sale of shares of £1. The Association was wound up in 1948/49 and the properties sold. It was felt to be too much for a voluntary committee.
