TitleRegisters of Admission and Withdrawal and Registers of leavers
DescriptionThis subseries comprises registers of admission and withdrawal for the Cambridge Higher Grade School and Central Council School for boys. This is because in 1913 management of the Higher Grade School passed to the Borough Council and the pupils were transferred to new premises at Melbourne Place. In 1919 the school became the Central Council School. The same admission register was used throughout these changes. Similarly the same register of leavers was used when the Central Council School changed to a grammar school in 1956 and hence they have been treated as one series.

N.B. Admission registers [1949?]-1957 have not been incorporated within this scheme, but appear currently under the records of the Grammar School for Girls, to which the registers for this period also relate - see C/ES30B/UNCAT

The registers of admission and withdrawal contain the following information: admission number, date of admission and re-admission if necessary, pupil's full name, name and address of parent or guardian, date of birth, last school attended, whether exempt from religious education, date of withdrawal and cause of leaving. The later volume from the Central Council School also contains a column for listing the dates of medical examinations but this mostly appears to have been left blank. The volumes also contain a name index of pupils and their admission numbers.

The registers of leavers contain the following information: admission number, pupil's full name, date of birth, address, date of last attendance, date of removal from roll, age on leaving, cause of leaving, nature of employment and employer's name.
