DescriptionCopy of will of James Allen Samuel of Harston, Cambridgeshire, yeoman, to trustees William Heifer of Foxton, Cambridgeshire, farmer and William Crowe of Newton, Cambridgeshire, farm bailiff. Messuage land etc at Harston, Cambridgeshire (to convey portion of land contracted to be sold to Frederick William Rowley, esquire, to discharge mortgage this or 'some other part of my real estate') residue to trustees to permit wife Ellen Samuel to occupy or receive the rents for her life then trustees to sell (if youngest child is 21). 8 acres of land at Hauxton, Cambridgeshire, to the trustees to receive rents for wife till youngest child 21 for maintaining and clothing their children (to be sold at the same time as the Harston property). Costs of sales to be allowed to trustees then residue to be divided between all surviving children but if parent died before share out then any lawful issue to share that parent's share BUT is wife dies before youngest child is 21 then to apply the money towards maintenance and clothing of children. After paying off mortgage debt with part of Rowley's purchase money, leave rest in Frederick William rowley's hands under a promissory note with 5% interest. Wife: household goods etc absolutely. Made 21 January 1873. Proved Peterborough district probate registry. June 1872. Copy made circa 1926.
