DescriptionBy Sophia Matthews, wife of Robert Matthews of Guilden Morden [she signs by mark] from Albert and John Jarman. Recites marriage settlement
1. James Woods, marrying part.
2. Elizabeth Wiltshire, spinster, marrying party.
3. Joseph Butler Westrope (trustee). Recites will of Joseph Westrope. Devises to 2. freehold messuage divided into 2 tenements, Guilden Morden, Cambridgeshire, then in occupation of George Sole and William Dash. Made 25 July 1851. No date of probate. Property forms part of marriage settlement to 2. for life, then to 3. for ever subject to charge of £50 in favour of 1. if still living on death of 2. 6 December 1856. 1. and 2. married December 1856. Elizabeth Woods died 20 October 1885. James Woods died 9 March 1886 (his will made 29 July 1862 appt wife Elizabeth as sole executrix). Sophia Matthews was therefore granted letters administration with (will annexed) by principal probate registry. Recites conveyance 1. Joseph Butler Westrope (vendor). 2. John and Albert Jarman (purchasers). 30 October 1886. Sophia been paid £50 by John and Albert Jarman. 31 October 1886. NB agreement of 1 February 1939 not in this deed packet.
