DescriptionRecords created by the Clerk to the Guardians. Due to the Union Assessment Committee Act of 1862, the Board of Guardians were required to appoint 'an assessment Committee of the Union for the Investigation and Supervision of the Valuations of Assessable Properties'. This authority was transferred to the County and County Borough Councils by the Rating and Valuation Act, 1925.
