DescriptionCreated by the Clerk to the Guardians. The Public Health Act, 1875, required the Guardians to create a rural sanitary authority for any section of their jurisdiction not part of a borough. These responsibilities for sewerage, scavenging, water supplies, etc were transferred to Rural District Councils after the Local Government Act of 1894.
