DescriptionThe first register is missing. This was presumably the paper register begun under Cromwell's injunction of 1538, as is suggested by the extant copies. Kelly's directories state: "The earliest register dates only from the year 1699 (sic), all the previous registers having been disposed of as waste paper by a former vicar".
