TitleSettlement examination of William Brown 61 years of age now an inmate in the Ely poor law union workhouse. Born in St Mary Whitechapel, Middlesex where his mother resides. His father, a sailor died in the West Indies when he was five years of age. Because he was taken ill in Ely on his return journey, Henry Howe the relieving officer of the said poor law union admitted him to the workhouse.
