| Title | Photograph of the Board Listing the Mayors of Huntingdon 1729-1898. |
| Description | This board, listing the mayors of Huntingdon from 1729, was presented to the Town Council by the 8th Earl of Sandwich on the 13 July 1899. The Earl had been Mayor of Huntingdon in 1896-1897, 1897-1898, and was the current Mayor when this image was taken. Presumably one of the two men standing either side of the board is Mr WD Scotney, decorator, who, according to the Hunts Post, painted "upwards of 4,000 letters in gold" on the board. The Hunts Post records that the board was made of white walnut, and was of "massive proportions", being 10 feet by 8 feet in size. The Huntingdon Arms were engraved on the top of the board, supported by scroll work. |
