DescriptionComments on the arrangements worked out in 1855 concerning the Clerk of the Peace's salary. Also objects to Mr. Maule being both Clerk of the Peace and Clerk to a division. He is not attacking Lord Sandwich's appointment of Mr. Maule but only the holding of two offices. He would have raised his objections earlier but he had believed that Maule was going to resign the lesser post.
