TitleVarious correspondence about the fee farm rents charged on properties in Long Buckby, co. Northampton.
DescriptionThe letters of 1861-1862 concern the claim made on Colonel J. King of Stretton Hall, Leicester, for the payment of a rent arrears. The 1844 letter mentions the case of Vickers v Allen, 1879, over the right to distrain for arrears of fee farm rents, and says that the decision may some day apply to the Long Buckby Fee Farm Rent. The later letters deal with claims by tenants to deduct income tax from the fee farm rents and the non-payment of rents by Mr. William Bannister, Messrs Walker and Soames, Brewers Buckby Wharf, Captain Bingham and Miss M.L. Horn. Attached:1) Copy of extracts from Letters Patent of 9th March, 15 Charles II, granting the Fee Farm Rents from the Manor and the site of the Manor of Long Buckby. 2) List of the Fee Farm Rents due and those who have to pay them. 1896 3) 4 sheets of accounts of arrears etc. 1897-1901 4) Memorandum August 1901 Giving details of Lord Sandwich's Fee Farm Rents in Long Buckby, with especial reference to the arrears due from Messrs. Walkers & Soames, Miss M L Horn and Mr W Bannister.
