Reference numberHINCH 9/119
TitleLetter; W. Beresford, War Office, to 7th Earl of Sandwich.
DescriptionRequesting him to complete the staff of the Militia as soon as possible. To do that, the inefficient serjeants must be replaced by good ones. Application must be made to the Home Secretary about the last, unless the Earl has already applied for and been given Serjeant Latham. Latham can be discharged at once because he has served for over 21 years: all that is needed is a formal application to the War Office or the Adjutant General. Writes on behalf of a Mr. Campbell who is seeking a situation in the Hunts. police. Will write also to Lord Mandeville on the subject.
