DescriptionOn direction from the Secretary of State for War, informs him that the question of removing Militia Regiments to the Brigade Depots is now under the consideration of Lord Morley's W.O. Committee. Requests information for the Committee on whether there are any objections to the removal of the HQs and Stores of the Hunts and Herts. Militia Regiments to the Brigade Depot Barracks at Bedford. Desires to know too what effect the removals will have on the Regiments in regard to recruiting etc. Requests that any communications on the subject from the Regiment's Commanding Officers or from other sources be forwarded. Additional notes: 1) Col. G.W. Waller, Assistant Adjutant General, Colchester to W.H. Hawley, Bedford. 15th January 1881 Requests him to obtain and forward reports on the subject from the Commanding Officers of the Herts and Hunts. Militia, and to send any observations of his own too. 2) Col. W.H. Hawley, Bedford, to Col 7th Earl of Sandwich. 17th January, 1881 Requests the Earl's views on the subject.
