TitleLetter; G. Vernon, Huntingdon, to 7th Earl of Sandwich.
DescriptionCannot obtain the information requested from Lloyd at Bedford. Will have to go over there and get it himself. Criticises Lloyd's Brigade Depot system. Two years ago, Colonel Hawley was in command, with one major, 4 captains, 4 subalterns, 1 doctor, 1 Quarter Master, 1 Paymaster, 4 Colour Sergeants and very many staff serjeants. but the average number of men was less than 100. There was never any drill for officers, only for the recruits. The number of officers has been reduced now, but they still have 1 full Colonel, 1 major, 2 captains, 2 subaltans, 1 doctor, 1 paymaster, 1 quarter master and many staff serjeants. Believes that there are less than 50 men in the Barracks at the present moment.
