Description | Edward Henry Fisher (son of Mary Jane Fisher, who held the licence of the Fountain Hotel, and later the George Hotel, in Huntingdon). Edward was a tailor and draper and his shops were at 107 & 121 High Street, Huntingdon. The family lived at Cromwell House in Huntingdon until Edward's death in 1946. He married his wife, Isabella Dawson, in 1898, and they had three sons and three daughters. Their eldest son Cecil Edward was killed at Ypres in 1918, and their second son died at school in the same year, aged just 16. Their youngest son, John Guy, became a director of the family business. Of their three daughters, Dorothy Mary married a Harold Thackray in 1936, while May McNiven and Nancy Rose were living with their mother when the family moved to Meadow Close in Hartford in 1946 See also WH3/2453 for a head and shoulders studio portrait taken of Mr Fisher in 1911 |
