<dc:description>Passing through parishes: St James Clerkenwell, Islington [St Mary], Hackney (all Middlesex); Walthamstow... Barkway, Barley (Essex); Melbourne [Melbourn], Fowlmire [Fowlmere], Thriplow, Newton, Harston, Little Shelford, Great Shelford, Trumpington, Grantchester, Cambridge St Giles, Chesterton (nr Cambridge), Girton, Impington, Histon, Long Stanton St Michael, Long Stanton All Saints, Over, Willingham (all Cambridgeshire); Colne, Somersham, Pidley cum Fenton, Warboys, Ramsey (all Huntingdonshire); Doddington, Whittlesey, Thorney (Cambridgeshire); Crowland, Pinchbeck... Canwick, Lincoln (Lincolnshire)... Acaster Malbis, York Bishophill St Mary Junior (Yorkshire) [junctions with York & North Midland Railway] No book of reference Engineer: Joseph Gibbs Historical note: although deposited apparently as alterations to 1836 Great Northern scheme (Fellows, Railways to Cambridge, p.9), the route more closely follows Cundy's 1834/5 proposal through Cambridge e.g. Fellows appears to be in error in his siting of the proposed station in Cambridge 'opposite the Castle remains' (Fellows, op.cit. pp.4-5), since the plans show the proposed route crossing the Huntingdon Road further north as in Cundy's survey (CRO Q/RUm3 etc.) This may be a change between the Special Commission Report publication and the submission of the altered plans. Scheme rejected by House of Commons </dc:description>
