<dc:title>Flooding on Portholme and Huntingdon grandstand </dc:title>
<dc:description>This image is intended to show the floods on Portholme Meadow in July 1875, but it is also an excellent photograph of the rear of the race course grandstand which was designed by local architect Robert Hutchinson, and was used until racing ceased on Portholme in 1896. Some of the buildings of the Huntingdon Gas Works can also be seen. The image has been inscribed "The Ouse Floods July 1875. Copyright". This image is identical to HP46/30/9/2, which also includes another image of the floods on Portholme taken from Godmanchester. See also WH2/53 for a later photograph of floods and the grandstand in the 1890s</dc:description>
